Haytham Latest Update (May 1st, 03.00am KSA time- April 30th, 04.00pm Alaska time) :
We’re stuck in Talkeetna waiting to fly out. There are low clouds on the mountain so the plane will not be able to land. It’s looking like we might have to spend the night in town.
The drive from Anchorage to Talkeetna takes a bit over two hours, with a stop for coffee and snacks along the way. Once in Talkeetna, the team unloaded, organized, and weighed all their equipment and supplies in preparation for the flight to the Kahiltna Glacier. The team also finished the registration process with the National Park Service and attended a pre-climb orientation.
Weather permitting, next step is the flight to the Southeast Fork of the Kahiltna Glacier where they will be establishing their base camp.
